NON FARM LIVELIHOODS:

Rural Non-Farm livelihoods sector covers all non-agricultural activities; household & non-household manufacturing, processing, construction, mining & quarrying, transport, marketing & other services varying in size from household own enterprises to bigger group enterprises.  

 

- MzSRLM on Non-Farm Livelihoods Promotion

The Mission focuses on improving and supporting existing livelihoods of the poor through enhancing and expanding livelihoods options and tapping new opportunities in non-farm sectors.

Develop local resources by training village level community cadre (Community Resource Person for-Enterprise Promotion) to facilitate and handholding support to rural households/SHG member in entrepreneurship/micro enterprises development. Enabling rural poor to set up enterprise and support rural entrepreneur/enterprises by developing their skills and support rural entrepreneurs by financial inputs.

To identify the possibility of developing entrepreneurship amongst rural households and enhancing incomes through developing vocational and entrepreneurial skills and by creating opportunities for self/wage employment.

            Micro enterprise promotion and development to facilitate economic empowerment of rural household through marketing and hand holding support to existing and new micro enterprises.

 

     -Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana (AGEY)

 Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana (AGEY) is a sub scheme of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) introduced by the Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India in the financial year 2017-18. Under the programme, the Community Investment Fund (CIF) provided to Community Based Organizations (CBOs) i.e Village Organization under the existing provisions of DAY-NRLM scheme is utilized to support the SHG members in operating the public transport services in rural areas.

During FY 2017-18 Mizoram State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MzSRLM) has taken up this scheme and implemented in 3 Rural Development Blocks wherein 18 vehicles are in operation on a pilot basis.The Scheme was expanded during FY 2018-19 in 7(seven) Rural Development Blocks wherein additional 30 vehicles were again provided. Till date 48 Motor vehicles  are being operated and run by 48 Self Help Groups under MzSRLM across 10 Rural Development Blocks.

 

Objectives of AGEY

  1. To provide an alternative source of livelihoods to members of Self Help Groups by facilitating them to operate public transport services in backward rural areas.

 

  1. To provide safe, affordable and community monitored rural transport services to connect remote villages with key services and amenities (including access to markets, education and health) for the overall economic development of the area by making use of the supports available within the framework of DAY-NRLM.

 Under Mizoram State Rural Livelihood Mission the Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP) is implemented since FY 2019-20 in Kolasib and Serchhip Districts, amalgamating two Rural Development Blocks into one SVEP block ( Bilkhawthlir & Thingdawl RD  block as Kolasib SVEP Blocks and E.Lungdar & Serchhip RD Blocks as Serchhip SVEP block) in collaboration with Mission Foundation Movement (MFM) and Kudumbashree-National Resource Organization (KS-NRO) as the Project Implementing Agency (PIA) respectively.

  • MzSRLM on Rural Tourism

 Rural tourism has a significant economic contribution as different tourism associated activities essentially generate cash inflow which inturn benefits the rural community. Rural Homestay initiative is one of the beneficial income generating activities in rural tourism. MzSRLM in convergence with Tourism Department has provided training and handholding support  to 21 SHG Households who own and run Homestay in Champhai, Khawzawl , Khawbung & Reiek RD Blocks.

Start Up Village Entrepreneurship Project (SVEP)

Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP), the sub-scheme under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) has the objective of helping rural households including women to set up enterprises.

Skill-building support is provided to all the entrepreneurs supported through Community Resource Persons for Enterprise Promotion (CRP-EP).

Community Enterprise Fund (CEF)

Community Enterprise Fund (CEF) is provided @ Rs. 1 Lakh (maximum) per Individual Enterprise and Rs. 5 lakhs (maximum) for Group Enterprises.
